LD 29 PCs demand change from Lisa Everett! Vote of No Confidence and Resignation of LD29 Chair Lisa Everett.

The outcome:

In fall 2025, members of the Arizona Legislative District 29 Republican Committee (LD29) acted decisively to address prolonged and serious leadership misconduct, formally repudiating the continued leadership of then-Chair Lisa Everett and setting in motion events that led directly to her resignation. On September 2, 2025, the Maricopa County Republican Committee Executive Guidance Committee voted 23–6 to censure Ms. Everett for multiple, well-documented violations of party governance and conduct. The cited reasons included misuse and intended misuse of LD funds for personal legal expenses; attempts to further expend LD funds to cover losses from a failed injunction she filed against an LD officer; initiating multiple injunctions against Precinct Committeemen that were dismissed; filing criminal complaints against two PCs that were reviewed by the Surprise Police Department and resulted in no action after being found without merit; obstruction of financial transparency; blocking official communications; unilateral actions taken without required approval; hostile and retaliatory conduct toward PCs and officers; and refusal to respect party discipline or take corrective action. The Executive Guidance Committee formally requested her resignation, which she refused. At the October 16, 2025 LD29 meeting, the body adopted a Resolution of No Confidence finding that Chairwoman Everett engaged in conduct incompatible with the responsibilities of Chair, including repeated disparagement of Precinct Committeemen, failure to perform core bylaw-mandated duties, misuse of legal actions against PCs, coordination with far-left Democrats contrary to the Republican Platform, violations of bylaws governing cooperation with the MCRC, improper media engagement using her Chair title, and conduct inconsistent with the Party’s support for law enforcement. The Resolution was followed by a Vote of No Confidence taken by an overwhelming and record number of 76 voting members, sending an unmistakable message that her behavior was unacceptable and that she no longer retained the confidence of the LD29 membership. Following the No-Confidence vote, Precinct Committeemen initiated the formal recall process under the bylaws. The effort advanced rapidly and reached the brink of completion, with 79 of the required 85 signed petitions already filed and an additional 10 signatures anticipated, making a public recall election imminent and unavoidable. On November 10, 2025, Lisa Everett resigned as LD29 Chair to avoid the public embarrassment of an imminent recall election that the membership had decisively and irreversibly set in motion. At the time of her resignation, 79 of the required 85 signed recall petitions had already been filed, with an additional 10 signatures anticipated, making the recall unavoidable. Her resignation was the direct consequence of a clear loss of confidence by the district’s Precinct Committeemen and reaffirmed that LD29 leadership is accountable to its members and must adhere to the bylaws, respect PCs, and conduct party business consistent with Republican Party principles, transparency, and ethical standards.
